Becky Russell, Herbalist

My Story

I became interested in nutrition as a teenager after being hospitalized with a kidney infection. I became a natural foods cook and gardener, and went on to become a health food store manager, and did extensive self study in nutrition, herbs, and homeopathy. I worked for and was mentored by Laraine Abbey, R.N., M.S. for 5 years, where I did nutrition and weight loss counseling. In 1991 I completed a certification program in nutrition from the National Institute of Nutritional Education (later becoming American Health Science University, but no longer in existence). I had my own nutrition practice for 15 years, and have been a staff herbalist and nutritionist at Black Forest Acres natural food store. I completed David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies 2-year program in 2022, and his 1-year Therapeutics class in 2023.

For over 40 years I have served people in my community in various capacities involving nutrition and natural remedies, listening to people’s stories, and making a difference in people’s lives by helping them find solutions for feeling better.

I work with individuals to help them achieve improved health using herbs, nutrition, and better lifestyle choices. Appointments are available in person, online, or by phone.

I am an herbalist, not a physician. I do not diagnose or treat disease, or prescribe medication. My role is to evaluate the client as a whole person and provide advice and support in making diet, lifestyle, and supplementation decisions. The objective is to enhance your body’s innate self-healing capabilities and achieve a greater level of wellbeing.
